Transport Officer

Special Areas Board
Hanna, AB
Full time

Closing Date: Apr 25, 2025

Are you passionate about public safety and building strong relationships in rural communities? We’re looking for two (2) motivated individuals to join our dynamic enforcement team as Transport Officers (Community Peace Officer Level 1). This role offers the opportunity to be a highly visible presence within the Special Areas, working closely with residents and stakeholders to support public safety initiatives. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy engaging with people, and are committed to making a difference, we want to hear from you.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: We welcome applicants with a variety of backgrounds and are open to considering a combination of relevant experience, skills, and education. If you have the right mindset, strong potential, and a passion for public safety, training opportunities are available to help you succeed in this role.
  • Certification: Possess or be eligible for a Level 1 Community Peace Officer appointment from Alberta Justice & Solicitor General.
  • Enforcement Experience: While three (3) years of experience as a Peace Officer is preferred, we recognize that skills gained in other enforcement, security, or public safety roles may also be valuable. Experience with municipal bylaw enforcement and park patrols is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with Provincial Statutes, MRF, report management software, ROADS, and other enforcement-related systems is beneficial. Candidates eager to learn and develop this expertise will be considered.
  • Tactical Training: Approved certifications in Defensive Baton, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Spray, and shotgun use are preferred. If you do not currently hold these certifications, willingness to obtain them through employer supported training will be offered.
